ART GALLERY IN GRAND VELAS

Voices of silver and stone

November 14th, 2016
January 10th, 2017

The gallery presents a scintillating collection of fine pieces that pair, masterfully, the sculptural traditions of Mexican indigenous peoples with the feminine force.

Silver is not only a precious metal that dresses and embellishes, it is also a generous and malleable geography that knows how to manage its impulsive creator. This exhibit is committed to the integration of our artistic roots in work that embodies the spirit of today’s woman. The Aztec codices, the deities of the valley of Mexico, the sacredness of the wixárika signs, the aerial delicacy of the hummingbird and the flowers it drinks from, are fundamental part of the imagery that these creations nourish; cosmic adornments, dresses that other artisan hands have also sewn, sacred animals, insects, flowers that grow freely or are as wild as the jungle, coral labyrinths and crystal bubbles trapped in undulating geometries of silver.

Let’s allow our gaze to travel over each piece, lower our voices, and listen…
